WebStudio Configuration Software
for the Panel PC and Open HMI

The Ideal Operator Interface Solution

WebStudio is powerful configuration software for the Panel PCs and Open HMIs. It is specifically designed to develop projects for industrial applications such as automation, process control and supervision that will run on industrial PCs using the Microsoft Windows XP or CE.net operating system. The WebStudio software provides you with a versatile collection of development tools to create stand alone or web-based applications for your Panel PC/Open HMI.

With a Maple Systems Panel PC/Open HMI and the WebStudio software, you can easily create applications designed for a wide variety of industrial environments:

Automotive

Food Processing

Steel

Biomedical

Water/Wastewater

Fabric

Glass

Building Automation

Chemical

Pharmaceutical

Packaging

Others...

Create your project using features such as animated screens, alarms, trends, scripting, recipes and reports, and schedule tasks. With the hardware features of the Maple Panel PCs you can connect and control a large selection of PLCs, controllers, and I/O devices.

WebStudio allows you to monitor, debug, and access real-time data from a remote computer (web thin client) using Internet Explorer.

Working with WebStudio is easy, because the operating environment uses familiar Microsoft® Windows® commands and toolbars.

Display Data in Easily Interpreted Formats

Make raw data more meaningful and easy to interpret with graphics tools that provide instant meaning.

Control Objects for Easy Data Entry and Control

Active control objects provide a familiar format for writing values to a register in the controller.

Programming Features

WebStudio has an extensive set of features that make it the ideal choice for industrial automation software:

Database Integration

The Panel PC/Open HMI, using WebStudio software, can save and retrieve data directly from any SQL Relational Database, such as SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, Access and many others. Link application tags to remote databases and integrate the plant-floor with the ERP. History tasks such as Alarms, Events and Trend graphics can also be saved into remote SQL Relational Databases.

Customizable Objects

All objects are customizable.

Device Connectivity

Over 200 PLC/controller communications drivers available including many Ethernet drivers such as MODBUS TCP/IP, Allen Bradley Ethernet/IP, GE Fanuc SRTP, Omron FINS, and Siemens S7 MPI.

Communicate to multiple devices using different communications drivers
Support for OPC and DDE client/server data exchange

True-to-life Graphics

Design the screens you want with powerful graphics tools that allow you to fully customize your screens to your unique application.

Animation
Graphics libraries of commonly-used objects and symbols
Images can be imported in multiple formats like JPG, GIF, EMF and WMF and sized on-screen
Drawing tools are available to draw simple objects and enhance imported or library graphics
Use any font on-screen that is available in Windows

Tag Database

Predefined tags are available, providing access to a variety of system information, and custom tags can be created to provide a link between the screens and the controller.

Boolean, integer, real, string, array tags, class tags, and pointer tags

Supports Unicode Characters

Unicode characters are supported.

Macros

Use macros to create scripts that perform simple mathematic operations on the operator interface. Functions are also provided for a variety of more complex mathematical operations, changing screens, security, logging data, and much more.

Multi-language Feature

Multiple languages can be easily facilitated by attaching a translation file to any project.

Recipes

Write batches of information to the controller using the recipe feature.

Reports

Build custom reports that communicate all types of data including alarms, incidents and more. The grid function allows
report data to be displayed in a manner similar to a CSV file. Reports can be printed, saved on Compact Flash, shared via the network or emailed to remote locations.

 Import Resources

A number of resources can be printed directly to a project:

RSLogix database (from a CSV file)
TwinCAT database (from a Report file created by the TwinCAT software)
OPC Server database (reads directly from an OPC Server on the PC)

Generic CSV file
ODBC database

Support for Meters, Bargraphs, Trending, Plots, Alarms & Events

Web Solutions

WebStudio provides a state-of-the-art web solution, the ability to view screens and monitor online history data from the Panel PC/Open HMI on any remote station (from PDAs to PCs) using Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Send commands and set points to the Panel PC/Open HMI from the web thin client security restrictions optional
Enable automatic emails from the Panel PC/Open HMI to a web thin client
Supports Active X controls for easier interfacing with web thin clients

Development Environment

The Microsoft Windows command and toolbars interface provides for easy and intuitive programming. The graphical toolbars are designed for simple point-and-click graphic design.

Extensive symbol graphic libraries and ability to import graphics in fifteen formats
Cross-reference tools allow easy location of tags in project
Database spy window for debugging
Output window to display error messages

Development vs RunTime Software

The Development software is used to create projects that can be downloaded to a Maple Systems Panel PC (Windows XP) or Open HMI (Windows CE.net) Panel PC.
The RunTime software allows a WebStudio project to run on a Maple Systems Panel PC/Open HMI.
When ordering WebStudio, one RunTime software is included with the Development software. Additional RunTime Software is required for every Maple Systems Panel PC.

About Tags

Tags are reference labels used by WebStudio for each PLC coil or register. WebStudio can be purchased with either 150, 1500 or 4,000 tags, depending upon the size and complexity of the HMI or SCADA application. If assistance is needed to determine an appropriate number of tags for individual applications, please contact Maple Systems Technical Support.
